Altitude Mentoring
We have an exciting opportunity for MD2026s and MD2025s to take part in a mentorship initiative. Altitude: Healthcare Mentoring is a program under the Ontario Medical Association which matches undergraduate students interested in healthcare/medicine with medical student mentors for a year. Our mandate is to empower students from underrepresented populations (low socioeconomic status, rural background, first in their family, etc.) interested in a career in healthcare.
As medical students, many of us benefited from strong role models and mentors, and Altitude gives students the opportunity to return the favour and help shape the next generation of our community’s healthcare workers. As mentors in this program, you will have the opportunity to mentor undergraduate students through one-on-one meetings and group workshops throughout the year, as well as strengthen your skills in community ownership and leadership. The deadline to apply is October 2nd, 2022 via https://forms.gle/oCwfuTFcby6eA5nm7
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email us at altitudementoring.uottawa@gmail.com.

By completing the survey, you will be eligible to win a 50$ gift card of your choice!
Medical ASL Workshop
Hello everyone! Once again, ASOC is looking to offer workshops to teach beginner medical American Sign Language (ASL) to students. Our goal is to provide more accessible health care to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. In this workshop, you will be taught basic medical ASL terms and phrases by Wissam Constantin – a well-known ASL teacher and advocate.
Last year, we ran 2 very successful ASL workshops and we would like to gauge student interest to attend these workshops this year. This is an amazing opportunity to gain insight into ASL and the Deaf community in a fun and immersive experience. Please fill out the google form below if you would be interested in participating in a workshop:

Medical Specialties Resource Hub
The Student Wellness Committee is excited to launch a new initiative which we hope will help you explore the different specialties in medicine! The pandemic has been hard on a lot of levels. One reason that is particularly relevant to where we stand in our academic development is that we cannot explore our future career paths adequately through elective observerships. In order to mitigate this problem, we are launching the Medical Specialties Resource Hub – an initiative that is meant to be for students, by students. In the following document you will find a Resource Hub for every specialty in medicine. We have collaborated with interest groups who have provided some basic information and resources for their respective specialty. Now, we want to share the document with you and ask you to submit any type of resources that have come across and found useful (official documents, youtube video, social media links, etc.).
