Critical Care (ICU) Career Talk (IMIG)

After much demand from students, we bring to you our highly anticipated ICU Career Talk!

Dr. English completed his General Internal Medicine residency at the University of Calgary and University of Ottawa, as well as a General Internal Medicine Fellowship and Adult Critical Care fellowship right here in Ottawa. He is an adult intensivist and neuro-intensivist, an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Critical Care), and an Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.

He will be discussing ICU as a specialty, his journey in making this choice and his current work-life balance. He is here to answer all of your questions about a career in critical care, what the shifts look like, what the training is like, and the “bread and butter” of his specialty.

Le Dr English a effectué sa résidence en médecine interne générale à l’Université de Calgary et à l’Université d’Ottawa, ainsi qu’une bourse de recherche en médecine interne générale et une bourse de recherche en soins intensifs pour adultes ici même à Ottawa. Il est intensiviste et neuro-intensiviste pour adultes, professeur adjoint de médecine (soins intensifs) et chercheur associé à l’Institut de recherche de l’Hôpital d’Ottawa.

Il nous parlera des soins intensifs en tant que spécialité, de son cheminement dans ce choix et de l’équilibre entre sa vie professionnelle et sa vie personnelle. Il est là pour répondre à toutes vos questions sur une carrière en soins intensifs, sur les quarts de travail, sur la formation et sur les fondements de sa spécialité.
